SpeakEasy Production, “Allegiance”

I am trying to organize a group to see Allegiance, a Speak Easy Production, on Thursday, May 31st, at 2 PM. I am able to obtain a discount of 10 tickets at $20 each. This will be performed at the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont St. in the South End.

The first ten people to RSVP via the Tear Sheet will receive the discount. I will notify you when I receive the tickets. The deadline is May 15th. In March, six members attended Every Brilliant Thing. I hope that more members would like to join us for an afternoon of fun at the theater.

To quote their website: Inspired by the true childhood experience of TV/film actor and social media icon George Takei (Mr. Sulu on Star Trek), Allegiance tells the story of the Kimura family, whose lives are upended when they and 120,000 other Japanese-Americans are forced to leave their homes following the events at Pearl Harbor. Sam Kimura seeks to prove his patriotism by fighting for his country in the war, but sister Kei fiercely protests the government’s treatment of her people. An uplifting testament to the power of the human spirit, Allegiance follows the Kimuras as they fight between duty and defiance, custom and change, family bonds and forbidden loves. SpeakEasy Stage is proud to breathe new life into Allegiance by presenting the East Coast regional premiere of an intimate version of this important musical.

RUN TIME: Approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes with one intermission.

SpeakEasy Production, “Every Brilliant Thing”

I am trying to organize a group to see Every Brilliant Thing, a Speak Easy Production, on Thursday March 29th, at 2 PM. I am able to obtain a community discount of 10 tickets at $20 each. This will be performed at the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont St. in the South End.

The first ten people to RSVP via the Tear Sheet will receive the discount. I will notify you when I receive the tickets. The deadline is March 15th. Last month, three members attended Shakespeare in Love. I hope that more members would like to join us for an afternoon of fun at the theater.

To quote their website:

1. Ice cream 2. Water fights 3. Staying up past your bedtime and being allowed to watch TV. These are just a few items on a list of things worth living for compiled by a young girl trying to ease her mother’s depression at the start of the charming and miraculous new play EVERY BRILLIANT THING. Through adulthood, as the list grows, she learns the deep significance the list has on her own life, as she goes to college, falls in love, and builds a home. A tribute to the irrepressible resilience inside all of us and the capacity to find delight in the everyday, EVERY BRILLIANT THING is a very funny and moving new play that enlists members of the audience to help tell its story.

RUN TIME: Approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes with no intermission.

Shakespeare in Love

On Tuesday, January 13th at 4 PM, we will attend a performance of Shakespeare in Love, put on by the SpeakEasy Stage Company. They are located at the Calderwood Pavilion, 527 Tremont St., Boston in the South End. The closest T stop is Back Bay Station and it is about an 8 minute walk on Clarendon St. across Columbus Ave. From Park St., the 43 Bus has a stop in front of the Pavilion. Parking can be a bit of a problem. I know the theater validates at the Clarendon St. Garage at Back Bay Station.

In order to qualify for the group discount, we would need 10 or more members to attend. The price will be $35. It would be a great way to spend an afternoon with your group members. There are many restaurants near the theater as well as Club Café which is about 10-12 minutes away.

If you are interested in going, please fill out the tear sheet and return it to the office by December 29th. If we do not receive enough for the show, we will refund the money.
