Provincetown Harbor Swim for Life & Paddler Flotilla

On Saturday, September 9th, the Provincetown Community Compact invites you to this quintessential Provincetown tradition.

Come immerse yourself in the cleansing waters of Provincetown Harbor and help raise funds for AIDS, women’s health and for the community.

When people gather with passion and vision great things are accomplished. For three decades, in one of the largest natural harbors in the world, thousands of swimmers have braved its unpredictable waters–its chilly currents, surging tides, and their deep fears−raising $4 million for AIDS, women’s health and the community. Please be a part of it.

Celebrating its 30th year, the swim symbolizes the heroic efforts of a community devastated by the pandemic and its unequivocal response to it. The Swim for Life & Paddler Community Compact, has become a catalyst for a nurturing community, offering connectedness, healthy exercise and continuity for those who return year after year.

Join the Provincetown Community Compact for this spirited and invigorating event. For info, e-mail thecompact@comcast.net or go to swim4life.org.

Moving the Meeting Place & Cruise

Hello Gentlemen,

Our 30th Anniversary has come and gone. Participation is key to successful events and we could not have made the Boat Cruise the success it was without everyone who pitched in to help. I hope you all had as much fun as I did. Special thanks to our entertainment, Carol O’Shaughnessy and Tom, for the great tunes and laughs. Captain Jerry and his crew, as well as Ritas Catering did a fabulous job for us. Even Mother Nature behaved herself. It was a beautiful day.

Fall is here and we are looking forward to our annual invasion of Provincetown for Halloween as well as a Thanksgiving Dinner after our November meeting at Club Café. Tony and Steve will be able to sit and enjoy the meal with us this year and we thank them for all the beautiful dinners they prepared for us in the past. Enjoy your retirement, boys. However, they have worked hard to arrange a holiday coach trip to Stockbridge, home of the Norman Rockwell Museum.

Members have asked to bring back the rotating monthly dinners. Bob Kingston-Parrott is working on this. If you have a favorite T-accessible restaurant, please suggest them and we will look into having a dinner there. Call Harry or Bob. We will still have the Tuesday dinner at Club Café.

Remember, our next meeting will be held at Club Café on September 16th. The support group will meet from 1:30 to 2:30 PM and the social hour will begin at 2:30 PM. This month’s speaker will be Dr. Philip Daoust, M.D.

Please contact Tony and Steve if you wish to host a potluck. We’d love to see a few more on the calendar.

It’s membership dues time!!! Please make sure you send your payment into the office via tear sheet or at the next meeting.

If you have any questions about any of the upcoming changes or events feel free to contact me at everharry@aol.com or (857) 544-3630.
